Language therapy looks different depending on the age of your child. A younger child would be engaged in play-based therapy Vs an older child would be engaged in age-appropriate topics and materials to improve language skills.
Jennifer works on social-pragmatic skills by building upon the strengths the child already has to improve his/her relationships. Social skills are personal and look different for each child. Jennifer personalizes treatment goals, based on the families' and child's needs and wants. Jennifer has many tools and strategies that are utilized throughout treatment. She also works with a colleague to provide social groups.
Jennifer has expert experience in the area of AAC. For over 10 years, she has worked with children who have a variety of diagnosis/needs including Autism, behavioral issues, Cerebral Palsy, Downs Syndrome, Angelman Syndrome and many others. She is able to provide a comprehensive AAC evaluation with communication recommendations that are appropriate for the child's needs. Jennifer makes sure to match the communication system to the child's needs, strengths and motor abilities. There are many AAC choices out there and it is vital to make sure your child gets the right system for best communication. Every human deserves a voice! I am here to help them find their voice.
Jennifer has over 10 years of experience work on articulation errors, phonological disorders, and/or oral-motor deficits.
Feeding therapy can include picky eaters, behavioral feeding issues or medical feeding. When your child is not eating, it can become frustrating for all involved. Some parents don't know where to start. An experienced speech therapist can provide guidance and direction to help ease some of those frustrations.
